In A Spiral

I fell down a bit last week on the healthy thing but dialing back the exercise quite a bit. The stint for the election board really sapped quite a bit of my energy and it isn’t like I’m not bouncing back like I used to, I’m not bouncing back like I ever did. One long day and I’m wiped out for a couple of days after.

So of course I celebrated finally getting some energy by dropping an obscene amount of money at the hardware store. I know I need to rebuild one of the garden beds, and truthfully trying to build it myself last year was a bust so I went for the kits, while picking up plants I absolutely don’t need, and clover for the yard. The thing is, I will need to expand my beds to mainly shady options as once the trees fill out, there isn’t nearly as much sun that will hit that back yard as it does currently.

And I tried to buy with that in mind! I specifically looked for plants that will thrive in the shade, something to give back to the pollinators since all last year all I had was spotty floral coverage and wood chips in place of the weeds in the lawn. But then I was distracted by the possibilities of blackberries I didn’t have to buy! And maybe raspberries, and what about kiwi! This doesn’t even account for the sweet potato I need to start allowing to give me shoots that I can plant.

If wasn’t supposed to be so darn cold this weekend, I would be back out trying to figure out how to maneuver the old garden bed into the new frame, but with the temp dipping down again, I believe I will be working to be cozy for the majority. Perhaps planning this garden and then seeing where Mother Nature actually takes me.

Does she take bribes?
