I worked at the house today. It was needed because it is supposed to rain in the coming week and I need to get the wood chips distributed before they get wet and stay like that forever.
Holy cow though, my body was not expecting all of that effort. In fact I have a medicated cream on my wrist because it is so sore from moving the wood chips. The next steps, of course, will be to put soil in the raised bed gardens, and consider if I want to drop another raised bed more toward the back. Since I’m not sure how the sun will act at this moment I’m hesitating. The large elm at the back of the property throws quite a bit of shade, which is amazing, but also harder to grow with that.
I wanted to put some trees in as well, but all the advice I’ve seen lately is to wait until all the cicadas pass on, so fruit trees may be a next year project. Meanwhile I’m itching to get the plants in the ground and have something pretty to look at in my back yard.
The goal is to go back over tomorrow, but first I have a 5K in the morning and then I will evaluate how my body feels. At present it is pretty ticked off to be honest. I’m not sure I can blame it either.
The 5K tomorrow will be my second of the year, the third one will be in the back end of May. I haven’t chosen my fifth race yet, but want to make sure I’m making good choices. I’ve been waiting for the color run, but there hasn’t been any news on it coming out here.
Packing is on schedule, but I’m not loving being in two places at once. I may end up just getting my desk together and then moving some clothes over, but there are still things that need to be done. Getting a washer and dryer in the new place is paramount now. Especially since I will want to keep clean!
Every day I have to remind myself to take baby steps.
The reminders aren’t working.
