I let myself loose at a hardware store today. Dangerous decision making at best, but at least I picked a shopping cart instead of a flatbed. Does this mean I kept myself in check? Sort of. Does this also mean I need to go back to pick up boards for a raised bed garden? Absolutely.
I decided to pick up some herbs as well, focusing on what I want in the front garden, but knowing I will need to make some quick decisions about the side as well. I want some things what will smell good but also have dual purpose, citronella and thyme, rosemary and catnip. Not just smell good items, but plants to keep bugs away. And lavender, so much lavender. Of course I’m also looking for pretty flowers so I dropped some creeping phlox in the front as well.
I still need to plant the azalea.
Had a contractor come out to get some ideas on a garage port today. Hopefully they will come back with some numbers, but I was upfront about the upcoming windows installation so I can keep expectations low. He also strongly suggested getting more bids, which I find hilarious as getting a hold of contractors is like finding a leprechaun. Difficult at best.
Of course, no trip to the hardware store is complete without getting some paint too. I just grabbed smaller cans so I can test drive some colors. I’m strongly leaning to painting the kitchen cabinets instead of the whole kitchen. And that stupid accent wall. I’m thinking of brighter colors on the main floor and cooler tones in the bedrooms. It all depends on me getting up to the ceiling, but I have a line on an interior painting pad that may do the trick. I just need to find it in stores.
This week I will focus on getting the compost in, the window measurement happens this week which means I can wrap the front windows in plastic and start moving little parts of the house over. Dishes I don’t use regularly, all my mugs, setting up the bathrooms, towel racks, etc.
