I have weekly long distance training with a friend out of Colorado. I’ve been training with her for years so it is a solid relationship, and this way I don’t have to learn someone new. Plus, I have the advantage that she already knows all the work I’ve done in the past, what has worked and what hasn’t.
She and I were working on weights, and stability this last week when she had me up on a step with one foot and then raising and lowering the dangling leg, strengthening not only my quads (I think, honestly I just do what she tells me and trusts that she knows what she is doing) but my core as well. The problem unfortunately is that my sense of balance is completely shot. While I don’t wibble wobble when I walk, it is a near thing and helps that I continue to move at a fast pace to avoid tipping over.
I came up with what I believe is a brilliant suggestion though! I figure I can do Bulgarian Split Squats in the bathroom using the tub as the ‘step’ while it also balances me! When I shared with her, I’m fairly certain she was laughing her behind off at me, but I will persevere. Plus, this has the added benefit of just knocking them out every time I go to the bathroom. I figure I’m drinking a ton of water, what better way of making the trip a double success? Plus it is kind of an enclosed space so if I tip, I can put my hand on the wall to make sure I don’t go all the way over.
Groundbreaking? Absolutely not. But this does give me the opportunity to include more basic lifting, even if it is my own body weight, to my daily activities. Hopefully this will help strengthen my core as well as continue to build my muscles in my legs. Small steps!

This, but in a bathroom, and without the weights. Goals tho baby!
