Working On A Quirky Graph

The first real working week is in the books at the new job. I’ll be working tomorrow at the coffee shop. There has been a lot of time logged in at the computer, more than I have ever done before. It isn’t bad, it is, however for me, completely different. There are different things that I’ve done to try and make the experience less painful on my back and brain while I’ve been doing this. A fancy cushion for my chair cause my tush is delicate. A new webcam that is all fancy with a selfie light, and a new set of headphones for calls, even though it makes me sad how tiny my speakers are on my laptop when I turn the headphones off. Next will be a wireless keyboard because typing on this tiny keyboard all day everyday is doing my head in.

There is still so much to learn as well. We had a staff meeting today and my boss kept asking, ‘Who doesn’t know how to do X?’ And I’m all throwing my hand in the air, asking, ‘Can you go back to S through W as well?’ And everybody laughed…. I’m going to have to see if I can get the last hour back at the end of my shift just for study time so I can feel marginally caught up.

The girls have been super unhelpful as well. Ginger is staging a sit in so I will understand how poorly I’ve been treating her. She is fairly certain she is already having to endure a hunger strike so she won’t take that route. It’s so bad with her that she will sit next to me at the counter in the kitchen and try and poach off my plate. Never mind it isn’t anything she will eat, she just feels like if I’m eating it she should be given the chance as well. She didn’t live with a dog for very long several years ago, but she has the ability to hear me open a plastic wrap or the fridge from several rooms away, with music playing and she will be in a full sleep.

Gracie is convinced I’m trying to freeze her out of hearth and home. Every couple of hours she comes into the office and gives me a hug, then lays down on top of my hands while shivering. I keep it at 65 in the house, but apparently her delicate body needs the heating pads on at all times.

Other than that, since I’ve been sitting all week I’ll be curious how my shift at the coffee shop goes tomorrow. It will be interesting one way or another. It’ll be my last shift at the store I’m going to. I report back to my store next week. Bad weather is coming tomorrow as well. Should make it interesting.
